“How Lucky am I “

Within the layer of these pieces, I spent allot of time reflecting on friendships, connections and the amazing community around me , sliding door moments, and the way pathways change, strengthen , crossover and disappear . The layers developed deeply in some places with colours, texture and patterns all coming together reflecting the changing seasons in deep terracotta, oranges, reds and greens .

“How lucky am I that my path crossed with yours, The greatest thing of all, knowing each other, We have almosts everyday….. finding their missing pieces, But on a day when I wasn’t even using a map, I didn’t even know I was lost, our paths crossed and you helped me get home, and for that I will always feel lucky”. By Josie Balka

Recently I came across a poem written Josie Balka ( this is part of it ) – It felt like it said it all, and why I feel so lucky – so I named these paintings after the poem.
